A unique anti snoring product that doesn’t tackle the problem but reduces the effects. If you or your partner find it difficult to get a good night sleep or are woken up by noise from snoring then it may be time for SleepPhones.
POSITIVES
Very well made.
Lost of options and accessories.
Comfortable
Can be used as normal headphones.
NEGATIVES
Not a snoring solution.
If someone is sleeping very close they may hear the noise from the head phones.
SUMMARY
SleepPhones isn’t really an anti snoring product so it’s difficult to rate it against the dedicated snoring devices.
That aside, it is a good product – if you want ambient noise in bed and your partner doesn’t then this is the ideal choice.
Available exclusively from the official website.

What Will I Learn?
In-Depth SleepPhones Review
I’m going to begin this review by letting you know SleepPhones do not stop you from snoring. Nor are they intended to do so but they can be an excellent option if the snorer in your life keeps you awake at night.
Instead of tackling the problem of snoring, SleepPhones make the problem easier to live with by allowing people to sleep through the noise.
By the time you have finished reading this review, you will know what SleepPhones are and how they work.
This information will enable you to decide if the product is the right option for you.
What are SleepPhones?
SleepPhones are special headphones you wear while you sleep. There are several options available.
The most basic and cheapest model has a wire with a 3.5 mm jack plug you can plug into an mp3 player of a similar audio device.
The more advanced options utilize Bluetooth and wireless technology.
The idea is pretty simple. The nighttime tunes or other relaxing noises you listen to suppress sounds that could keep you awake or pull you out of sleep.
Although wearing SleepPhones is a good way to prevent a partner’s snoring from keeping you awake, they are designed to tackle noise in general.
Some people sleep in them because they have noisy neighbors. They are also an effective way to drown out the noise of traffic or local industry etc.
Of course, you could try and do the same things by sleeping in normal headphones.
However, if you have tried this in the past, you will probably know normal headphones often fall off during sleep.
They can also be uncomfortable to sleep in. Especially so for side sleepers.
Marketed alongside the promise that they are like pajamas for the ears, SleepPhones are made with comfort in mind.
SleepPhones look a little like a sports headband and, again with comfort in mind, the bands come in a choice of sizes. There is no one-size-fits-all mentality.
The band houses two ultra slimline speakers that provide the sound without applying pressure to the ear or causing discomfort while sleeping.
Who Makes SleepPhones?
SleepPhones is manufactured by AcousticSheep LLC. The company is based in Pennsylvania and has been accredited with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) since 2014.
At the time of this review, the BBB rating was A+. If you are not familiar with the BBB rating system, all you need to know is an A+ rating is as good as it gets.
The company was founded in 2007 by, husband and wife team, Dr. Wei-Shin Lai and Jason Wolfe.
A family practitioner, Dr Lai often got woke up at night by phone calls from her patients. These after-hours consultations made it hard for her to get back to sleep so she tried listening to meditative music.
Like many people in similar situations, she found normal headphones and earbuds were too uncomfortable to sleep in.
When Dr Lai couldn’t find any suitable nighttime headphones on the market, she and her husband decided to design their own. SleepPhones is the result.
Their design proved to be very popular with consumers and Dr Lai and her husband have won several prestigious entrepreneur awards.
Advertised Benefits
- Helps you to fall asleep faster
- Enables you to stay asleep longer and wake up refreshed
- No painful ear buds or awkward headphones
- Reduces ambient noise (snoring, conversations, traffic sounds, etc.)
- Helps you sleep well naturally (without medications)
- Relieve stress and block out noise by listening to your favorite music, soothing meditation sounds, audiobooks, etc.
Design & Material
The headband comes in a choice of colors and sizes (small, medium, large).
There are also two fabric options:
- Fleece Headband: Soft, luxurious, and warm, the fleece headband is an ideal option to wear in bed or while relaxing or meditating.
- Breeze Headband: The Breeze headband is moisture-wicking and breathable. It’s probably best for people who live in hot climates or tend to sweat a lot during sleep. People also choose this option if they want to use SleepPhones to listen to their tunes while exercising.
Although slightly different, both fabric options are made from AcousticSheep’s proprietary SheepCloud fabric.
The special mix of polyester and spandex is durable hypoallergenic, stretchy, and designed for maximum comfort.
Obviously, the flat speakers are one of the most important features. If you’ve ever tried sleeping using normal or earbud headphones, you will find this set up a real game-changer.
How Does SleepPhones Work?
After you’ve inserted the special headphones, you place the headband over your ears. If you wish to do so, you can use it to cover your eyes as well and use it as a sleep mask.
Wearing the special speaker-headband minimizes ambient noises such as rowdy neighbors and snoring.
Your choice of music is noise-blocking, not noise-canceling. This makes it possible to still hear your alarm when it’s time to get up.
Can You Expect Any Discomfort or Side Effects?
If you follow the size guidelines on the manufacturer’s website and buy the correct size headband, there should be no discomfort.
SleepPhones is designed for maximum comfort and customer reviews show that’s exactly what it provides.
Maintenance Requirements & Product Longevity
SleepPhones are low-maintenance. As with any garment worn next to the skin, the ear pajamas (headband) will need washing occasionally.
You can do this by hand if you prefer, but the special SheepCloud fabric is machine-washable. It’s also pre-shrunk, so you can put it in the dryer too.
You will need to remove the earphones before doing this, but this is not hard to do. Both are separate units. It’s also worth noting you can buy them separately. So, if you want a choice of headbands, you can.
Obviously, if you buy the corded version, you will need to make sure the 4-foot (48 inch) audio cord does not run near anything sharp or hot that could damage it.
The more advanced versions have batteries that need recharging. Depending on the level of electronics involved, the battery life is 10 – 20 hours.
That’s plenty long enough for a device of this type but you will need to charge the battery every day.
You charge the battery using the USB cable that comes with the headphones. The manufacturer says this should take three hours but some customers say it takes less.
SleepPhones Customer Reviews
Customer reviews are predominantly good. Lots of people praise the product for the level of comfort and sound quality.
Sleep Phones Summary
SleepPhones is a good product for anyone who is kept awake by snoring or other noises in or near to their sleep area. However, it’s important to remember it’s not a solution to snoring.
If you have a problem with snoring, you would be better off with a MAD or some other form of anti-snoring aid that tackles the core problem.
SleepPhones will undoubtedly be more beneficial for the people who have to live with your snoring if you fail to get it under control.
It’s also worth bearing in mind what a versatile product SleepPhones is. Apart from using it to help you sleep, you can use it as a more comfortable substitute for normal headphones.
The headband design and moisture-wicking material makes SleepPhones a particularly good option for people who like to listen to music while jogging or doing other sports pursuits.
This is a product you could use in many different ways but the DawnStudy website exists to offer support to people who snore.
SleepPhones may not stop anyone from snoring but they help people who snore by preventing their snoring putting unnecessary strain on their relationships.
How Much Do SleepPhones Cost?
The cost of the product will depend on which version you choose. If you are on a tight budget or simply require the basic no-frills product you can buy SleepPhones Classic for just $39.95.

At the other end of the scale, SleepPhones Effortless retails at $149.95.

SleepPhones Simple and SleepPhones Wireless offer refinements the Classic model does not, but less than the Effortless version. Both options cost $99.95.
You can get up-to-date price information and explore/compare the full range of options at the SleepPhones website.
Guarantee
AcousticSheep backs the product with a limited warranty and satisfaction guarantee that’s good for a year.

Buying direct ensures you are getting the real-deal product instead of a cheap counterfeit.
