DAWN Award Ceremony in Cairo Egypt creates new awareness!
Professor Pierre Lefebvre, President of the International Diabetes Federation handed over the DAWN award to Ms Sioufi on behalf of AYD at an exceptional DAWN Award Ceremony in Cairo on January 4th 2005.
The DAWN Ceremony attracted leading diabetes experts and healthcare professionals from Egypt, regional diabetes associations, government officials from Egypt and France, journalists and TV media.
With help of the French Space Agency a live satellite link was established to experts and professors in therapeutic pediatric diabetes education in Paris and to representatives of the French Space Agency in Toulouse.
As a result of the DAWN award, new collaborations are flourishing between France and Egypt and with neighbouring countries to share best practices in regard to supporting young people with diabetes.
Choosing the winner and the 4 top runners was not an easy task for the DAWN International Advisory Board reviewing committee.
65 excellent applications from 31 countries from all continents had been submitted.
The applications were rated according to the alignment with the DAWN philosophy and the worldwide DAWN call to action as well as their ability to inspire others and propose practical approaches to reaching many people with diabetes in need of support.
With the award, follows 10.000 EURO from Novo Nordisk to be spent for furthering the impact and reach of the program that has now been established.
